And it's Sunday night- did this weekend fly by for anyone else?!?
Let me start this off by saying that my daughter is a TROOPER! Since she is the only baby in the house she gets to try out new props for babies and small ones- that includes gets repositioned a million times while I figure out how to best use them. Not only does she cooperate but she turns "it" on for the camera! She's such a mini-model....until she's done!
Now, on to the new props. Since newborns are almost entirely in studio, I seem to shop for props for them the most. And I have recently picked up 2 AMAZING props geared mostly for my newborns. The first is in an antique egg basket. It is so great and I'm beyond pleased with how it photographs. This prop is so versatile and I am so looking forward to use it. I was also thrilled to see how I can use the particular prop with slightly older babies. Here are some photos with Stella:
Here's another view of the egg basket with one of my new pettiskirts for little girls (the pettiskirt will be amazing for baby girls who can sit on their own- I can envision it now) and one of my new headbands.

The next prop is my greatest challenge yet...it the antique dairy scale. I always stop and gaze at newborn shots done where the baby is propelled in the air (i.e.- babies hanging from branches) and now we are going to go on that adventure with this new scale. I did actually try this with Stella tonight and I've figured out how I want to suspend the scale in the air and how I'll get sleeping newborns captured BUT Stella is far from a sleeping newborn. Here's a picture of the scale so you can get an idea of what it looks like. I can see some amazing pictures coming with this prop (I was losing my natural light tonight when I was taking this picture so it's a little dark!) I have several different things to exchange the metal bucket with to capture even more looks with one prop as well.
Hope you've enjoyed these sneaks of some new props! I look forward to your session.
Have a great week!
Melissa
